Cecil Scott
Forester was born in Cecil Louis Troughton Smith in Cairo, Egypt. His father was a minor British governmental officer in
the Egyptian Ministry of Education. In 1901 his mother, Sarah Smith, took her five children to London. Forester was
educated at Alleyne's School and in 1915 he entered Dulwich College. He then tried to enlist in the army, but failed the
physical. Forester studied medicine at Guy's Hospital for a few years. In 1921 he abandoned his studies for writing,
taking the pen name Cecil Scott Forester. 

 
About The Reader

Kitchen was born on Sunday, October 31st, 1948.
Michael was discovered at RADA by Top Talent Agent Peter Froggatt
of Plant & Froggatt Ltd. Since the early 1970s, Kitchen has been a fixture of UK television. His early appearances
include roles in Play for Today (Hell's Angels by David Agnew, 1971), Thriller and Beasts.
Since 2002, Kitchen has
appeared in the ITV mystery-drama Foyle's War as the lead character, DCS Christopher Foyle. He is also a producer for
the show.
